DataVis Inspiration

Above is Jer Thorp’s print visualization of the NY Times data, the occurrences of the words hope and crisis. I think it creates a very beautiful print piece. What is also interesting to me is that although it is printed, it was originally created with processing. Because of its medium, I feel this piece is more of a print oriented piece, I just think its awesome that code was used to generate the print, rather than manually creating the graphic.  See more images here and here. Additionally the RGB NY Times query is quite nice as well.

Last but not least…

Great interactive visual from the new york times, how people spend there day. You can really get into this graphic, and look at many different values of the time. I also really like the nice easing on the graphic, and how it changes form through the various information.
